So, in the 1960s or so a little book was written and made into a Disney classic. I bet you can guess what that was.

Later, much later, it was made into a TV series which was... derivative. The kind of thing that you know was made just to cash in on things.

One of the characters in that derivative sequel was called Cadpig. odd  choice of name I always thought. Now it turns out that one of the animators suggested this name, for a very curious reason.

You see 101 Dalmatians the book has a sequel.

In that book all creates bar dogs on earth fall asleep, this is caused by an alien dog Sirius, from the dog star (Geddit?!) he has come to take all dogs from earth before humans nuke themselves to bits. A better plot summary is here: [link] Notably it stars a dalmatian puppy that forms a new british govenrment on account of being the Prime Minister's pet. The name of this pup? Cadpig.

So it seems said animator decided to make a character as new age and hippy as he beleived the author of that book to be, explaining both the odd name and behavior of that TV show character. I am impress. (Both in the animator and the fact that people who work making a ripoff of a classic can find themselves shocked at a ripoff of a classic.)

And now, a scorpion eating mouse that squeaks at the moon: [link] (That's a scary video if'n you're a bug!)

That's pretty fricking hilarious, I’ll admit. A very… bizarre byproduct of the Cold War nuclear scare (on the bright side, the whole thing is so damn deranged it failed to ruin the happy memories I have of the “original”, Disney-tampered version I watched as a kid).

I want to see a movie of the second book though, I'm sure Disney can do it.

I'm not too sure they'd take that risk. I mean, if they dared to create countless, downright crappy sequels/TV series to good movies (The Lion King… =() and haven’t gone THERE yet, it’s unlikely that even THEY would choose to invest that much money into something that bizarre and politically closer to the Cold War era.

It's possible they simply haven't *heard* of it, though rumor has it the aliens in Bolt were inspired roughly by it.

Those silly USAmerican animators and their dog novels... I had to read it myself to believe it.

It's like reading fanfiction, only lower quality.

Actually it's learning Disney movies are technically fanfiction.

And I thought Disney's image couldn't get any worse in my eyes...

They're a scary company. I do wish their story adaptions were better though. If The Fearless Four has taught us anything it's that a story needn't be totally new, nor softened to be awesome.
