So yeah, butterfly farming. It's 10am and I have four out today already. Good stuff. (Lost two to parasitic wasps, also good; wasp gotta live too.)
But one got out (I use paper covers which allow breathing and discourage fungus but can shift.) and here's where it ended up. I kid you not, this is where it, of its own violition decided to bed down, probably yesterdayish given how clear the pupa is. (There are two 'races' of 'fly; green pupa and brown pupa. I do not know how big the genetic differences are 'twixt them.)
So yeah, rather surprised and delighted by this. Hope to get a hatching photo some time.
Also, the first thing a butterfly does after hatching is to poop. Bet you didn't know that.
