This little silk tree is growing all alone on burning rock. (Paving stones are rock!) You can see the brown remains of lesser grasses that burned off when the summer drought hit. (There were ore but they crumbled and blew away in the wind.) Silk trees flower in the burning high heat of summer and can live 30 years. This seedling is the offspring of such a tree, nearing the end of its life. But it cannot stay there, or it will disrupt the pavers. Its days are thus already numbered.
