So, it seems that if you go to someone who says he can make you invisible, and he can't, that person is a fake sorcerer.

As opposed to the real sorcerers who CAN make you invisible. Those aren't in the news because nobody has managed to take a picture of them yet.

The identification of this case as an instance of fake sorcery is clearly deeply related to the field of theoretical sorcery, which could, hypothetically, turn someone invisible. But if it were to actually be done then it would become applied sorcery.

You are probably going to have to refine your method before the scientific community starts taking it seriously. Also tell them it will answer some mystery of the universe, that can't hurt.
